...In Which Good Will Is Rewarded

I hesitate to admit this, but my guild still hasn't unlocked the Seafood Magnifique recipe. I know this sounds terrible, but we lost more than half of our regular raiders to Rift and other games. Those of us left are struggling to keep a weekly rep farming raid afloat. As a result we tend to keep thing low key and this includes raid prep. We only got the first battle cauldron during the summer and we've been making slow progress on the fishing achievement. In the past few weeks my guild leader has been putting in a lot of spare time on the fishing. A few times I've jumped in to help out so he's not the only one fishing. But let's get real, he's done the lion's share of the last 2000 fish caught.

So last night I decided to pitch in a bit more before I logged out. I went to Twilight Highlands to see if I could collect some guppies for the guild stash. It was slim pickings along the river, but the lake in the north of the zone was showing promise. I fished up a couple of pools there and before too long the Sea Turtle popped out of one! I was completely surprised because I'd forgotten you could even get those from pool fishing :)

Here's a pic of Kaliope on her cute Sea Turtle!

  1. :) Congratulations. My guildies were not so lucky (while people who didn't help with fishing got their turtles recently).

  2. Gah - that's horrible luck for you! Hopefully karma will turn things around for the generous helpers at some point =)

  3. Cata was not kind to me or my guild. Eventually, mainly due to the efforts of a couple of people, we got it on my mains guild.

I was able to generate a little help by looking up what was the bestselling fish and where it was caught and telling people about it. ("Did you know a stack of Highland Guppies is selling for nearly triple the price of a stack of obsidian ore?")

My 525 fisherman/mount toon does not have the turtle but an alt does.

GL to all with fishing, guilds and justice.

  5. There's an easier way. Google the achievement.

  6. I didn't know the turtle could drop from Cata pools as well! Grats to you!

I admit, I cheated a little and fished in the BC pools for Mr. Pinchy - the guild got the feast, and I got Pinchy!

(and I will get an open ID some day so I'm not anonymous anymore!!!)

  7. My guild is extremely low key (good friends - what can I say?). I'm the only one with an active 85 character and drooling over the cooking achievement. She's at 298. So we've been buying murglesnout and Sharptooth from AH for about 35s apiece (it takes 3 for a dish). Also Dragon Flank for 1g. 5k seems a reasonable price to pay for such an achievement (at least that's what my main keeps whispering in my ear).

  8. Above comment for Broiled Dragon Feast, not Seafood Magnifique. I need both but the dragon feast is hard if you are the only toon that can cook cata recipes. The rest of the gang does quite a bit of fishing. :-)

  9. Grats to you and your new turtle! Just found your blog and it's quite informative. Thanks for all the effort you've clearly put in and hope you continue to write. Cheers

  10. My GM was a tyrant. He had one weekend where he just spammed gchat with how many pools we had left to hit the mark, and he "strongly encouraged" us all to fish.

    It worked though.

  11. Wow, I guess I'm lucky to be in a guild with an awesome leader :) I've never been a fan of that "brute force" system, but I know lot of guilds are run that way. Our GM led by example - he fished his tail off and gradually others joined in as they saw the achievement getting closer to completion.
