It looks like the wayward Technique: Origami Beetle finally made it into the game with the Patch 4.1 content. I've gotten two user reports (thanks fellas!) about this dropping in Uldum for Scribes. I'm also seeing similar comments from posters on Wowhead. The recipe appears to be a zone drop in Uldum. One of my readers got it from a croc near the Lost City, but from the Wowhead data it looks like it can drop from any mob.
The recipe binds to you, so you can't farm it on a different toon. Unfortunately I can't test out this information because my Scribe is only level 70. If you haven't managed to get a copy of this recipe yet, give Uldum a try!

dropped within 5 minutes of questing in Uldum for my scribe. summons a group of beetles that burst into flames after a few seconds. easily the neatest Origami in game!
ReplyDeleteMy scribe was doing the dailies and just herbing on the flight from the one to the other... got jumped by something in the desert on route, killed it, beetle. Think that was her first kill since patch.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there is a level requirement for getting this to drop? I flew into Uldum with my level 81 scribe and started killing level 82/83 crocs but had no luck - I killed probably 20 of them before I had to quit.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is like the jewelcrafter patterns that are bop? i.e. You need a quest from that zone before a pattern will drop for you. Try picking up one of the dailies and then go slaughter the crocs or whatnot while you still have a quest.
ReplyDeleteDoes this produce an item that can be traded/sold?
ReplyDelete@fluxdada
ReplyDeleteWowhead tooltips for the actual item doesn't show that the crafted beetle is BoP, so you should be able to make and resell as they also don't require Inscription as a requirement to use either.
@Cold Guess I know what my Scribe is doing first thing today. lol
ReplyDeleteHey Cold! Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteI just checked TUJ and Origami Beetles are already popping up on the auctions. I think that cements the idea that they can be traded and sold.
