Living Action Potion is Saved

The Zandalar faction disappeared during the Cataclysm and with that many recipes are also gone. One recipe that didn't vanish is Living Action Potion, a "vanilla" recipe that used to require Exalted reputation with Zandalar. Apparently someone at Blizzard felt it was worth saving and relocated it to Winterspring. I'm not certain when this recipe came back into rotation, but I found it during my vendor camping adventure on the 4.0.6 test realm.

Currently you can purchase this recipe from Evie Whirlbrew in Everlook (a neutral vendor). The recipe binds when picked up, so you can't sell it or mail it to another toon. It's also not limited supply, so you don't have to worry about camping for it. As long as you can get to Everlook, you can purchase the recipe. She also sells the potion itself in limited supplies, so you could stock up on cheap potions while you're visiting.

The nice part about this is that it was previously a pretty rare recipe. I don't think many of us ever got to exalted with ZG in the first place, much less on an Alchemist. I suspect few players were able to make this potion, now pretty much any Alchemist can get it. Another bonus is that this potion does not have a level limit. It appears that even level 85 characters can use the potion.

I'm not certain if we have a different stun removing consumable that competes with this item, but I didn't see one among the other potions. The closest comparable item is the Free Action Potion. The effects are slightly different since Living Action Potion will actually remove an existing stun and Free Action Potion does not. On the flip side a Free Action Potion will give you immunity for 21 seconds and Living Action Potions only work for 3 seconds.

Both of these potions look like they would be very helpful in PVP situations. If you're a serious PVPer I could see you keeping a handy supply of both. I know for a while I dabbled in Free Action Potions during Wrath as a low volume, high profit consumable. It looks like the current prices on both potions vary pretty widely due to the low availability on most realms.

  2. I didn't expect these potions to be usable in arenas or rated battlegrounds since almost no potions are allowed. They can still provide utility for players who do regular battlegrounds - I assume that's the target audience for them.

  3. Wow that sucks. I grinded rep on 2 alchies to get this recipe. So much for that niche...

  4. Not good if you have the Bloodsail Admiral Title as Evie Whirlbrew is hostile and seeing as the recipe is bind on pick up, you've got no chance of getting this recipe. :*(

  5. Oops, that would be a problem for those who've angered the goblins. Now that we know ZG is coming back in the next big patch, perhaps we'll see some additional information about Zandalar reputation too. I suspect this particular recipe may be a lost cause for you though.

  6. lol I won't be beaten, I'm levelling a bank alt to level 285 Alchemy so she can make the potion :) Presuming she can make it, even at level 41....

  7. Hehe, good attitude! I leveled a mage alt (my least favorite class) from 20 to 63 purely to get Inscription back into my tradeskill lineup. I'm a big advocate of using spare alts as crafting slaves =)

Wowhead says that you need level 35 for Master Alchemy skill, so you should be good!

are not correct for the current recipe.

    Thanks for your hard work!
