Just Found - Glyph of Colossus Smash!

Many of our Scribes have been trying to figure out how to get their hands on this glyph. I'm happy to say that the mystery has been solved. In the process of checking all the vendors at Highbank, I came across this:

This is the inventory of the Alchemy/Inscription supply vendor at Highbank. It looks like she will start selling this recipe in tomorrow's patch:

  1. Depending on prices, it may be cheaper to learn it from a book of glyph mastery.

  2. I read on Wowhead some disagreement on whether the Books would teach this glyph or not. I would probably go the vendor route and save books for more valuable glyph recipes, since on my realm Books are selling for several hundred gold each. For those who aren't having that problem it may be more of a toss-up and come down to convenience.

  3. Totally. If a book taught this I would definitely buy the recipe and save my books. I have never seen any on my server for less than 150g and the next step up was 100g more.

  4. oh wow! Thanks for the tip Ms Kali! I stumbled across a comment on Wowhead yesterday that mentions there are a couple of new glyphs to learn with books (300gs-ouch!), as well as, minor and NE research. I learned three new ones yesterday and plan on trying it again today.

  6. Lol, the version I read was here:

Where someone quotes a GM saying this glyph cannot be learned from a book. This is why I felt there was some disagreement on the issue, since some claimed success from books yet a GM has said otherwise.

  7. I can't remember where I learned it, but I've been able to craft this glyph since before 4.0.1. So this is not a brand new glyph.

I don't know if maybe they took it out of the game for a while or what, but it's definitely in game on my server.

  8. There are a few comments on my blog about this saying that some of us we have this glyph already. Now that I recall it, I think I do too (will check later tonight).

  9. I originally characterized this as "found" with the idea that a reliable source was confirmed, not necessarily to mean that it was a new item. People have been asking about the glyph since Beta, so I knew Scribes were anxious to get their hands on it. I confirmed with Wowhead that the source was still under debate before posting. I'm really not sure what it all means in terms of the average Scribe at this point. I guess it means if you don't have it yet you can get it from the TH vendor :)

  10. I can confirm that the book does teach it. I didn't mentally absorb the price I saw, though, and those books are always more than 6g :)

  11. This glyph was taught by a Book in 4.01, and it also originally used Ink of the Sea. It was later changed to used Blackfallow Ink, so only scribes that had stocked up on the old version were able to sell it during the time of the "Dark Jessica" imposter.

I was surprised to hear that this glyph was "unlearnable". Both of my main Scribblers know it, and from the competition I have over this horrible-selling glyphs, it seem that every other scribe on the server knows it as well. I made 20 of these glyphs in 4.01, and was still selling from that same stack long after the Cataclysm had come and gone.

  12. I had similar situation as Zamboni. I either learned it through the book in 4.xx or through RE research, but haven't been crafting them as they do not sell well on my server.
