And Now For Something Completely Different...

Monty Python(tm)

Ok. So. I got a little bored in between Beta builds last month. And then I3ig Al left a comment on my blog about how he loves Weird Al. I love Weird Al too. And I wondered why don't we have a Weird Al of WoW? I mean, we have tons of people who make machinima. We have Oxhorn, who does the occasional WoW song, but I think he's more about the funny videos than the music. We don't really have someone giving us funny WoW songs. Our best (and basically only) funny WoW song is the Purple Monster. That thing is like five years old! In five years no one else can do a funny WoW song?

So like I said, I was bored. I decided I would take a stab at this idea. I'm not especially funny, but I do have about 3 years practice writing (aka: blog you are reading). I ran this by my hubby and he immediately proposed Cee Lo Green's viral hit - (bleep) You. The theme I wanted to try writing about was bad pugs. Basically our #1 QQ topic for the past year.

Just so you know, we're not recording experts or video experts. Mostly I just wanted to see how hard this was and whether it would turn out funny. I'll let you guys decide... try not to be too brutal =)

  1. Congratz on the effort! I have seen worse. I share your hate for PUGs!.

  2. Absolutely brilliant, well done. Can't get this song out of my head now.... "I say PUG you and... PUG them too la la la la..."

  3. Hehe, glad you enjoyed it Mermayd :) I know the video isn't the most eye-catching, we just copied the concept from the original video. But we really had fun creating the song. My youngest was singing it for about a week straight.

  4. oh man i cant wait to get home from college now so i can listen to it!!!!

  5. Thumbs up from me, but you were lucky using the chipmunks as background singers...I have been in PUGs with them and swore never again....I was sure they were going to wipe it :)

  6. Lol Brian! If I'd been any good at machinima I would have tried to work in some funny gnome v. tauren hijinks into the thing. That would have been a great addition, I think.

  7. As a warrior tank, I saw: Awesome.

  8. lol

    that is so true
great first vid kaliope, im looking forward to what i hope is many more in the future

  9. Anon: Naturally! What can I say, I'm a traditionalist ;)

BL: Thanks! I may be brave enough to try again sometime if the commentary continues to be so positive. I was expecting the worst but so far you've all been exceedingly kind!

  10. Omg, brilliant, I just loved this video. I can't get Pug you, lalalala out of my head. Looking forward to more fun videos. Great idea to break up the boredom waiting for Cata.

I gotta say as a former PROT warrior tank... THIS IS AWESOME SAUCE!!!! Great effort and I am still laughing as I am writing this... can't wait to use the lines at the next guild run.... TYVM!!!!!

  12. Inspired by this I wrote a Christmas song for you - it's very Alliance orientated but the words can be easily changed.

To the tune of 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland'...

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
I F hills, snow is glistening.
    We'll win every fight,
    Coz We're happy tonight.
    Walking in a Blizzard Wonderland.

    Gone away is the scammer,
Here to stay is Ally's Hammer.
    Gold Sellers have gone
    So let's sing along,
    Walking in a Blizzard Wonderland.

    Cataclysm's here to entertain us,
Where level 85 is not a dream.
The Horde can pack their Goblins in a bus, man
Coz we have got the Worgs to make them scream.

    Later on, we'll fly higher,
    Wherever we want, or desire.
    To face unafraid,
    The plans that we've made,
    Walking in a Blizzard Wonderland.

Walking in a Blizzard Wonderland :)

Happy Christmas Sporeggar, Kaliope and the rest of WoW

  13. Lol, that's so cute! Thanks for sharing =)

  14. Yeah. I'd like more of those. Especially the horrors of playing a hunter. When you are soloing your keen senses get dull pretty quickly when you enter an instance, trying to adapt to the fast-paced gameplay is really hard to do. Even worse is when half the group decides to make you into their ignore list, prolonging your queue even more and hence, making it even harder to play with a group. Ah, the life of tanks/healers most be sweet in comparison. But, mostly. Rogues seem to be best off of this deal. Or not. Haven't played other classes but a hunter, so I wouldn't really know either way.

  15. If it makes you feel any better - I stopped playing my warrior tank completely. I got fed up with DPS who wouldn't even give me 1 GCD to get aggro before they'd go all out on damage and then get angry with me for not holding aggro. Sure the queue is short for tanks, our pain comes while we're inside the dungeon trying to do our job :)

I stopped taking my healer on randoms for similar reasons. My gear was pretty good and I didn't have problems keeping anyone alive. I just got disgusted with everyone's horrible attitude and couldn't bring myself to bother dealing with it after a while. The tokens just weren't worth the stress of running with strangers who didn't show any common courtesy to each other.

From what I read on the Beta forums, many players feel the same way. DPS were always complaining about waiting hours in the queue for a random dungeon. The few tanks who did post a comment said they refuse to run randoms and only group with their friends/guilds because they are fed up with dealing with pugs.

It may seem like tanks & healers have it made, but we dislike the situation just as much as anyone.
