New Cooking & Fishing dailies in Cataclysm (BETA)

I found a new daily Fishing quest last night in Stormwind while I was trying to figure out how to get Fishing working. This new quest is interesting because it rewards a skill point, in addition to the standard goodie bag. Perhaps this is meant to be an encouragement for players who are reluctant to take up the profession. Here's a couple of pics I took of the daily Fishing quest:

I also spotted a new daily Cooking quest this morning in Stormwind. The NPC name is cute, although I'm not much of a fan of the RL dude. Anyway, this quest also gives a skill point as a reward. In addition, you get something called a Stormwind Cooking Token. Presumably to purchase recipes with. Here are some pics I took of the daily Cooking quest:

Unfortunately I can't test either of these quests since Fishing isn't functional at the moment. I notice that the Cooking quest requires fish. That seems a bit unusual for a Cooking quest...

The recipe token vendors aren't in the game yet, so I can't provide any information on what types of goodies we can purchase with tokens. I would like to make a suggestion though. They should create one vendor and let the user select from a list of professions before the recipes are displayed. This will save us from having multiple recipe token NPCs in Stormwind :)

  1. Update: Figured the cooking quest out, it involved poaching and not actual fishing. Will share more info on that later :)

  2. Hey! Cool info! Was wondering whether or not you could comment on the amount of gold that you are getting per quest? Do you feel like its going to change or stay steady?

    In essence, I am trying to evaluate the amount of gold that the average player is going to make just by questing from 80-85. 70-80 Northrend questing gives like 3-4k gold and so I want to see whether or not its similar in Cataclysm. Thanks!

  4. A bit off topic, but I just had to tell how great your site is, just found it a few hours ago and I'm busy reading through your archived posts.

    Lots of really helpful crafting info, but I'm especially loving the Cata posts, keep up the good work. ;)

  6. There seems to be another fishing (daily) quest involving picking up worms for bait at Olivia's (?) Lake in Stormwind.

  8. i hope these are playable before cata release, btw. bobby flay sux(imo), mainstream--soccer mom's--tv junkies kinda cook, this NPC can cook better than him!
