WotLK Engineering 357-450 (Live)

Ok, so I finally got around to leveling my Engineering to 450.  I didn't realize this until I started planning my shopping list for the final push, but Engineers are forced to go all the way to the cap in order to unlock the two epic gun recipes.  This is kinda crappy of Blizzard, especially for a profession that's so economically challenged to begin with.  I went ahead and made that my target since I know there are folks who'll be pushing for that, not just the epic helm recipes at 440.

The Lunar Festival is Back!

Over the weekend the Lunar Festival rolled back into town. I know many of you are busy working the Elders for your Achievements, but let us not forget that there are recipes waiting to be had as well. Specifically Tailors and Engineers can benefit from the quests by collecting Coins of Ancestry as they visit each Elder. In Moonglade you can purchase goodies from the vendors there including patterns to make the Lunar Festival wear and fireworks schematics for Engineers. So if you haven't gotten these recipes in a previous year, now is your chance!

Recipe Lists Updated for 3.0.8

This is just a quick post to let you all know that our web site has been updated with the recipes and changes from the latest patch.  There are a few items that might be missing some information due to lack of data on Wowhead but I tried to include as much as I could.  I will keep filling in the blanks as I can, but I think there's enough up there now for most folks to find what they need.

Feel free to drop me an email or comment if you want to share something I'm missing :)

New Alchemy Goodies in Patch 3.0.8

Alchemy is getting a couple of new items in the upcoming patch, nothing major but still interesting.  The first new item is called "Lesser Flask of Resistance" and it gives +50 to all schools of magic for one hour.  Like all other flasks, it persists through death.  This doesn't seem like a highly beneficial item, but for guilds who are moving through new content it could be handy to beef up resistance among your ranks.

PTR Cooking Update (3.0.8)

Over the weekend I was finally able to purchase the Small Feast recipe to test the 425-450 range of Cooking.  I did have to spend some time gathering the necessary fish - I didn't bring any with me to the Test Realm.  As I've mentioned in previous posts, the Feast recipes are yellow when you learn them and turn green very quickly, to the frustration of Cooks wanting to hit the level cap.

Leatherworking Goodies from the PTR (3.0.8)

Leatherworkers aren't getting as much love as perhaps some other professions are, but they will have a few tidbits to look forward to.  First, now would be a very good time to start making those epic armor kits if you're in any position to do so.  Why?

Cooking Progression 3.0.8

The other day, one of our readers mentioned a rumor that some of the current Cooking recipes would stay yellow between 425 and 450 skill in the new patch.  To test this rumor, I copied nine stacks of meat and all my Northern Spices to the PTR to see if I could spot any new trend.  My rogue was sitting at 402 Cooking when I started, and had about 18 daily tokens saved up.  I knew there were a few vendor recipes that stayed yellow longer than others, Critter Bites and Dragonfin Filet being a couple of them.  I cross-referenced WoWHead and purchased as many as I could to see if there were any notable changes.

New Inscription Goodies from the PTR

Somehow I thought I was the only Scribe struggling with this issue.  I mill and mill and mill and only get a couple of Snowfall Inks, even when I use the best herbs.  Meanwhile my Ink of the Sea is piling up and I don't know what to do with it.  Sure, I could sell my glyphs for cheap, but it pains me to price them for less than the exorbitant herbs cost me.  Sadly that's what they're currently going for, Glyphs have become the new uncommon gem cuts of WotLK.

At Last, News from the PTR

Yes, I finally managed to get access to the Test Realm today.  It involved a lot of mucking about on my computer, but with a little advice from hubby I managed to log in and poke around.  I nabbed some new information for several professions already, but today I thought I'd focus on Cooking.  It would have been great if some of the new goodies actually helped ease the leveling process for Cooking, but so far it appears to be more of the same.

State of the Tome

Sorry peeps, I know I've been MIA for a couple of weeks.  It's been a hectic holiday season and I'd hoped to get caught up on my backlog of work with my extra free time.  Unfortunately I had a house guest over the holidays, so my free time kinda got consumed with cleaning and entertaining.  So the bad news is that the backlog is still lingering.  The other bad news is that I've had the misfortune of being on the wrong side of the PTR glitch that locks some folks out of the server.  I might be able to get in with a full or partial reinstall, but haven't had time to fuss with that.  Which means at this point... no PTR news :(
