Master Angler Swag!

Hubby and I have been working the past few days on a new project.  We wanted to take another stab at the online store, but we really didn't want to do the typical thing of plopping our site name on a shirt and hoping you good folks would pay money to give us free advertising... so we wracked our brains until we thought of something more interesting.

One of my peeves about products on Jinx is that they are very generic, I really can't make a personal statement with their products.  Plus as a chic I really don't like the super-macho style of most of their designs.  The only other way to express your gaming side is the Swagdog tabard-shirt... I dunno about you but my guild tabard is not something on my list of things to wear around town.

So, we decided to try and bring some meaningful personalization into the picture.  We've designed an "achievement" style shirt which can be customized with your character's name.  The first one is a "Master Angler" design complete with a fancy title and a fishy emblem!  I know that the official title for Fishing is Salty, but I personally wanted to be a Master Angler so that's what I put on the shirt.  We are planning to have both versions available, so if you prefer Salty it should be up there by Monday.  If this whole idea takes off, we want to start expanding into other professions including Cooking, Alchemy, Blacksmithing and more.  Personally, I'm looking forward to Engineering cuz I really want to see a ticking bomb insignia on a shirt =)

For those who don't really wanna wear your obsession on your chest - we've also done the same design on a really cool medieval-style stein.  I think something like that is gonna be a great desktop item, but I'm a nerd and I currently have an LED snowman on my PC.  Right now there's just a few items up: a men's shirt, a ladies' shirt and the stein.  If you see something else in the Zazzle line-up you like better, just drop me an email and I'll add that to the store for you.

We really hope you guys like this stuff, because it'll give me an excuse to add more professions to the mix.  If nothing else, please leave your feedback in the Comments and let us know what you think about the concept and what, if anything, we can do to make it more appealing.

And if this isn't even remotely your thing... stay tuned!  Coming up in my next post are the new daily Fishing quests from the PTR :)

  1. Kal, I think this is TERRIFIC idea! I know a lot of people--some of them in my guild--who are all about crafting, and see raiding as a means to an end, of sorts. :)

Just a suggestion: Come up with an idea for those dedicated souls whose only aim is to amass as much gold as possible. A friend of mine bought a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth and a Hog within minutes of each other, just because she could. A week later, she's just north of 32K gold. Again. (Two Christmases ago, she gave 4 friends their epic flying mounts!)

    Good luck with the store!

  2. Hey Kestrel - thanks for stopping by! You're tracking the same direction we are, actually. We had been toying with going beyond crafting if the peeps like this idea. My hubby tossed out the possibility of doing a Brewmaster shirt, which isn't a crafting thing but I'd love to see that one :) So we'll see how it goes... but we would love to branch out into the full Achievement territory with it.

  4. Very cool!
Hope it works well for you!
I know you're on professions at first, and that makes sense given your site.... I'd probably be interested in "the Immortal" myself - that's the one I'm most proud of atm, but "Chef" is a good one too. :)

  5. Yes - Chef is on the short list of new items to go up next. Also, the "Salty" fishing items are now in the store.
