The Lunar Festival is Back!

Over the weekend the Lunar Festival rolled back into town. I know many of you are busy working the Elders for your Achievements, but let us not forget that there are recipes waiting to be had as well. Specifically Tailors and Engineers can benefit from the quests by collecting Coins of Ancestry as they visit each Elder. In Moonglade you can purchase goodies from the vendors there including patterns to make the Lunar Festival wear and fireworks schematics for Engineers. So if you haven't gotten these recipes in a previous year, now is your chance!

This may not be a great deal for Tailors, unlike clothing for other holidays which can be crafted, these outfits are similar to the ones sold by the vendor. As a result there may not be much market for them. They can still be handy if you want to dress your lowbie alts in style. For you collectors out there, you know you can't be satisfied until you add these to your collection.

If you're an Engineer, you have more motivation to go after these recipes. Sure, you can learn new types of fireworks, that's not unique to this event. What you can't pick up any other way are the recipes for firework launchers. There are two different kinds of launcher and the Lunar Festival is the only way to get them. Once you make the launchers you can use them anytime you like, so this would be really handy to have at other times of the year like the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve.

There's also a huge selection of fireworks recipes to go with these launchers, which would give you quite a variety to use in a display. You can purchase up to a dozen recipes which are sold in groups of three. If you plan to get them all, you'll need 30 Coins of Ancestry. When I did this on my Engineer it took me a couple of hours to get enough coins for everything. If you happen to be a Scribe you can use your Scrolls of Recall to get around a bit quicker. But if you're not, you can still use your Transporter/Ripper trinket to get a free ride or two to the 'old country'.

For those of you who want to take a peek at the recipes, you can go to Crafter's Tome and select "Source = Quest" to get a list of these items within your profession. You can also see a more concise list of everything sold by the Lunar Festival vendor here. There's a good general guide to the Festival at WoWWiki.

Have Fun!

  1. I'm not a tailor, so I may be wrong, but aren't the crafted Dress and Suit red, whereas the vendor sells different colours?

  2. That's right Bobo - I meant to change that in the final edit but apparently did not. Oops!

Even better, my Engineer is a mage... so I have Portals to take me EVERYWHERE.
