One of the unpublished additions for Alchemists is the new, improved Alchemy Stones they are making available through the Shattered Sun Offensive. Like the current Alchemy Stone, they require Exalted reputation to purchase. Unlike the current Alchemy Stone, these new ones come in flavors that should be more complimentary to various class types. By no means do these four options cover everyone, but it should be a welcome change from the one-size-fits-all plan that exists now.
Here are the screenshots of the new Alchemist's Stone recipes:
Sorcerer's Alchemist Stone | Redeemer's Alchemist Stone |
Guardian's Alchemist Stone | Assassin's Alchemist Stone |
As you can see, some really nice trinkets for Alchemists. And while it's annoying to have to grind SSO rep all the way to Exalted, it's not quite as bad as the Engineers who have to be in a BT-level raiding guild to get their helm upgrade recipes. I think SSO will end up being a fairly easy rep grind compared to current factions, purely due to the large number of available quests. Feel free to leave your thoughts!

I agree, this reputation will probably be one of the faster ones to grind. I recall people grinding the Netherwing reputation in 2 weeks or less (eggs ftw :)), I have a feeling this rep will be similiar.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get the Redeemer’s Alchemist Stone for my alchemist healer, +119 healing ftw :)
The stones need Nether Vortex? Not even Primal Nethers...
ReplyDeleteSad panda :(
Although i believe u can buy vortexes for badges in next patch ? and maybe they aint BoP anymore..can't remember exactly but it should be easier than currently.
ReplyDeleteand vortexes are 15 badges, forgot to add that
ReplyDelete30 bades is about 2 1/2 karathons, easily done..
ReplyDeleteVortex's drop quite often in Tempest Keep I see 2 or 3 drop each void reaver run we do... I believe Hema you are thinking of Nethers.
ReplyDeleteNope, Hema has it correct. In 2.4, Vortexes are BoE and purchaseable for 15 badges + 7 gold.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! This is good news if I ever pickup LW patterns that need them on my hunter... my mistake for in the false correction.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little ashamed to say this, but... I only recently noticed that the Philosophers' Stone was a Trinket and had stats (and not bad ones at that, especially to my Druid, who was only carrying one Trinket at 43rd level). I really always thought that it was just something you carried in your pack to allow transmutes.
ReplyDeleteBut thanks to Kalliope's blog, I took an actual look at it, adn by gum it's a Trinket! Pop it went into her Character sheet, freeing up a space in inventory and giving +5 to everything. Huzzah! Thank you, O Muse of epic poetry! Or large asteroid! Whatever you named yourself after!
As for transmutes, it's kind of a nonissue. The number of Arcane Crystals I've found in lots of Thorium mining (for my Jewelcrafter's Emerald Crown of Destruction) has been slim, and I have yet to get one from Prospecting. I did rarely have a backlog of Arcanite-making materials, but more often, my cooldown went unused. Still, I sha'n't complain.
ClemSnide - I recall reading that the Stone was recently changed from an "in inventory" item into a trinket. Maybe someone more knowledgeable could enlighten us?
ReplyDeleteWhile I can find nothing in the official patch notes for 2.4 I was able to find this on WoWhead:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wowhead.com/?item=9149
As you can see, the old version has no stats and the new version does. Just equipped this yesterday on my lvl 62 Alchemist and he's happy to have a better trinket than the Carrot on a Stick ;)
Woot! My level 46 druid had no trinkets equipped, so she's happy that she can now equip her Stone.
