Gas Clouds Broken? Nerfed? Nooooo!!

I had my first full evening of farming with my new flying machine + gas cloud detection goggles and it would appear that the gas clouds have been taken away. I did circuits around Shadowmoon, Nagrand, Zangarmarsh and Netherstorm and found zero gas clouds. I even did a double-check on my goggles to see if the detection bonus had been removed (thankfully no). I can only hope that they broke it with this latest patch. After I logged out, I went over to the WoW forums to see if anyone else was having similar issues. Lo and behold, the second new post I see is "Windy Clouds Nerfed?" on the official message board.

Seems I am not the only one who had problems  :(

  1. Have you checked that you have the tracking clouds enabled? I don't have a high enough engineer to have that ability, but I have found with the fish tracking and my cat form that if you select one kind of tracking and then try to get another that comes automatically with one of your stances (like track humanoids with the cat from) you wont automatically switch it.

  2. It differs of a "regular" tracking ability like Find Herbs, Find Fish that appear in the first page of your "book".
Wearing high level googles allows you to track gas clouds.

Yesterday I un-equip and re-equip my googles, deco/reco, camp and farm minerals and herbs with other toons, try again:
no gas clouds at all in Zangdarmarsh and in Nagrand (except one too far from a flying island) ... either on track or visually.

  3. I was just in Nagrand and I got 4 gas clouds. Yesterday after the patch I got a few in Zan. I have been getting 4-5 motes each one. I dont know about the tracking though because I havent made the goggles yet. I do know my track fishing wasnt working for the STV contest and that kinda miffed me.

  4. Hmm...it worked for me the other day. I don't actually play my Engineer anymore, but I logged onto him just to build a flying mount (the slow kind, but still cool!) and the Detecto-helm. The nice thing about it is that it actually seems to stack with other trackings, such as Fish! woohoo!

  7. I've got to find out where to get the recipe for the flying machine; my eng doesn't yet know it. :(

  8. For Alliance, there's a new NPC in Shadowmoon Valley at Wildhammer Stronghold. She's standing right next to the forge. For Horde I have no idea who the new trainer is, but I assume also in SMV.

  9. There was a bleu post recently, stating that they were aware of the issue, and a fix was planned for 2.3.2.

  11. Thanks for sharing guys - I have to admit when I saw that the servers were going down yesterday morning I secretly hoped they were going to hot-fix the clouds. Obviously that didn't happen, but it's good to hear that they do plan to fix them for us. This bug was especially sad for me, as I had just made my flying mount the Monday night before they broke it :(
