Dancing with the Archmage

I'm weird.  I collect useless game items just because they make me laugh. I have a ridiculous amount of bag space devoted to Dragonbreath Chili, Preserved Holly, Hallowed Wands, Snowballs, Mr. Wiggles, Peasant Callers and more. I can't bear to part with my silly items, it may be a disease.

Naturally I notice when I finish a quest and end up with something interesting left over. I actually saved my Overseer disguise from the Blackwing Coven quests in Blade's Edge. I also bought the Orb of the Blackwhelp sold by the Wyrmcult Provisioner in the caves, but I haven't used it yet. I still have the X-52 Rocket Helmet from the You, Robot quest in Area 52, because you never know when you might want to launch yourself to the stars.

On that note, how many of you noticed that you still had the Archmage Vargoth's staff after you completed his quests? I was tickled to see that not only did he not take it away from me, but I can still click on it to summon him. He's like an extra pet to me now, I pop him out from time to time when I'm bored. He won't follow you around and he despawns after a minute or so, but he's still fun to bring to parties... err raids.

Well last night I was in the Scryer bank and I noticed that someone else had called their Archmage. So of course I went over to greet him. Imagine my surprise when he bowed back to me - how cool is that? Obviously I had to bow to him 20 more times, just to enjoy the novelty of bending him to my whim. After that got boring, I decided to try some other emotes and see if he responded. Waving didn't work, so I tried dancing. I must not be a very good dancer because he just stood there and laughed at me. What nerve!

Clearly the Archmage is a more interesting pet than I initially thought, I will definitely have to save a permanent spot in my bags for him. I just love it when Blizzard adds silly gags like this to the game, it's just a small reminder that we are all there to have fun =)

  1. Crap, I destroyed that staff a couple of days ago just to get more bag space...
